Per-User Dial-Up Wholesale Pricing

Per-user dial-up pricing allows you to purchase dial-up service based on multiple levels of service. In order to determine the best plan for you, and to better understand the ISP industry, please read this information carefully and review the per-user price chart below for our most common price points. If you do not see a package that meets your specific requirements, please contact us for a plan that is just right for your ISP.

Per-user Dial-Up Pricing Explained

Per-user pricing of dial-up services can often be misleading. Some companies may hide their usage levels from you, and others may try to pigeon-hole you into a package that is too restrictive for your users.

We offer various levels of service, and we will explain how we arrive at the pricing for the given levels of service. If you read this page, you will have a better understanding of per-user pricing structures, and you should have a better idea of the service that will best meet your needs.

Usage Caps ... What Usage Caps Mean to You

Usage caps or usage limits are implemented in various ways. Some companies will say that there is a limit, but they may allow your users go actually go over that limit and then charge you a ridiculous rate for any usage over that level. Other companies may set a global average cap, whereby your users are allotted a number for each user and when the average is exceeded, you pay more.

The math used to determine an estimate of the average usage of a dial-up user is based on the wholesaler's global averages. It is commonly known by ISP wholesalers as well as retail Internet providers that approximately five percent of users will account for about twenty-five percent of the cost of operating an ISP. Therefore, if even a small percentage of the highest users are eliminated or capped to a certain level, the operating cost of an ISP may be reduced dramatically.

Using a usage cap can allow for reducing the average cost-per-user. For example, a usage cap of 250 hours may yield a one-half to one percent cutoff rate of users, and yield an average of 35-37 actual average usage per user, whereas a 150 hour usage cap may hold a cutoff rate of two to two and a half percent and yield a 30-32 hour average. This is acceptable for some companies due to the huge savings.

Our per-user pricing for dial-up service is figured on an actual cap that is determined by you. If you tell us to cap your users, they will be capped, and will not be able to exceed that cap. This allows for much better math ... for you, and for us.

We allow you to determine the cap for your users, and you may change that cap when needed. Your pricing will be reflected by the cap that you determine. Please see the pricing table below to evaluate your selection. This pricing is based on tier one network coverage.

Unlimited Dial-Up Accounts

Unlimited dial-up service often appears to be a very subjective term. We offer unlimited accounts, as well as capped accounts, depending on your needs. Some companies will offer an "unlimited" per-user wholesale rate, while they cap the usage too low for your needs.

What is "unlimited" dial-up service? It is really hard to provide a definitive answer, but it is not necessarily what it may seem. "Unlimited" may seem to mean that you could purchase a service at a particular price and it would allow your users to use the service for 720 hours per month, which, after all, is the number of hours in a month (24 hours times 30 days). More commonly, it seems that the industry has adopted a casual approach to the meaning. It is quite common that anywhere from a 250 to 325 hour per-user cap is considered "unlimited". Different companies have different criteria, but the fact is that only a very small number of users will ever actually reach those caps. Anything above that level is commonly referred to as a "dedicated" service.

Per-User Dial-Up ... What Are You Buying?

If you are purchasing per-user accounts capped at a given usage level, have you have actually purchased that many network hours? No way! Remember, a wholesaler is selling the service based on expected usage. If the global average per-user usage is 40 hours per month (which is considerably high), then the wholesaler is selling you accounts based on the anticipation that your users will not exceed a given percentage over that global average. In reality, if you were purchasing accounts capped at 400 hours but then each of your customers actually hit that cap, then the wholesaler's cost to service your ISP would be ten times the expected level. If you think that there is that much markup to a wholesale ISP, wouldn't you go into the wholesale side of this business?

An Internet service wholesaler (a true wholesaler) purchases the service is based on the usage of your users. Therefore, the wholesaler will make an estimation of the average cost that they will incur per user (your users). They will then add their markup, and then pad that figure to be sure that they do not lose money in the event that your customers have a high average usage level. If your overall account usage becomes too high, the wholesaler would either raise your prices or lose money. What do you think will happen?
